Job Description

The Catholic University of America seeks a strategic enrollment professional with a collaborative nature and expertise in graduate enrollment best practices for the role of Dean of Graduate Admission. This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and plays a key role in achieving the Universitys graduate enrollment goals and objectives.

The Dean oversees the continuous assessment of the effectiveness of recruiting strategies, leads advertising and marketing efforts to promote graduate programs, and directs communications with prospective graduate students. In this capacity, the Dean will cultivate close working relationships with school deans, department chairs, program directors, enrollment systems and operations, financial aid, institutional research, the Division of University Communications, and University Advancementwhile serving as a central liaison between graduate applicants and The Catholic University of America.

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is $169,000-174,000

The expectations for the Dean of Graduate Admission require that the successful candidate possess the ability and experience to accomplish the following responsibilities and priorities in these key areas

  • Provide a strategic vision operationalized into a graduate enrollment plan to grow the number of revenue-generating graduate students.
  • Manage and administer institutional discounting in collaboration with Financial Aid to maximize net tuition revenues.
  • Develop and execute graduate student recruitment strategies, including planning special recruitment and yield events.
  • Collaborate effectively with school deans, faculty, and staff to assess goals, needs, and efficiencies related to recruitment, admission, and enrollment.
  • Develop and execute recruitment and marketing materials, including digital, print, and video collateral.
  • Manage graduate marketing expenditures and relationships with external marketing partners.
  • Create and implement program-specific communications plans for prospects, applicants, and matriculants.
  • Build and sustain relationships with feeder schools, career services offices, program directors, and advisors.
  • Expand local outreach to industry and market partners (government labs, working professionals, embassies, companies).
  • Coordinate with University-wide online and hybrid program initiatives.
  • Use internal data and market analyses to identify opportunities and drive decision-making.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and resources to graduate recruiters while expanding the team over time to enhance service to prospective students.
  • Serve as a non-voting member of the Graduate Board and participate in monthly Deans meetings to inform program development and admissions policies.
  • Support the mission and vision of The Catholic University of America.

Candidates should demonstrate a proven record of success in achieving enrollment goals, as well as exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills. A masters degree is preferred, with at least five years of experience in higher education and a minimum of three years in a professional enrollment position.

The Dean of Graduate Admission should bring the following qualities

  • Knowledge of enrollment management theory, current trends, and practices in graduate education.
  • Broad understanding of strategic marketing, including the effective use of digital and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and lead a motivated team.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to the mission of a Catholic research university.
  • Familiarity with student information and CRM systems (experience with PeopleSoft and/or Slate preferred).
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office and comfort with data analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a customer service orientation.
  • A collaborative leadership style that builds trust and fosters strong relationships.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and in culturally diverse environments.
